1) Ladder type
The working surface of this type of floating ring is a large-diameter spherical surface with a stepped axial cross-section. The working surface is concave and there is an included angle of 1 to 2 degrees between the working spherical surface and the bright sealing belt. When used in pairs, the working surface is a spherical surface with a large diameter. The spherical surface is butterfly-shaped and sealed with a bright band. The stepped type saves materials and labor, and has good lubrication performance and heat dissipation of the working surface. The disadvantage is that the total width of the working surface is narrow and the service life is limited.
2) Trumpet
The working surface of this floating oil seal is also a large-diameter spherical surface with a concave center, and the cross-section is bell-shaped, and the seal is completed by its bright strip. The advantages of the bell-shaped floating ring are similar to those of the stepped type. The disadvantage is that the width of the working surface is narrower, but it is slightly wider than the stepped type, and its service life is also slightly better than that of the stepped type.
3) Wide spherical type
The working surface of this type of floating oil seal extends all the way to the root of the inner hole, which greatly increases the total width of the working surface, thus relatively increasing the service life, and is more popular. But it is more time-consuming and labor-intensive, and the cost is relatively high.
(4) Wide groove type
The working surface of this type of floating oil seal is the same as the wide spherical type, but on the inside of the bright sealing belt, there is a semicircular oil groove concentric with the two bags, which plays the role of oil storage, lubrication, and heat dissipation. The disadvantages of this type of oil seal are that it is more labor-intensive and more expensive. Due to the groove, the total width of the working surface is reduced, and the service life is not as good as that of the wide spherical type.
