Surface requirements of floating oil seals

Floating seal is a workpiece with high precision requirements. When using it, it is necessary to extend the service life of the original as much as possible. If the part is replaced in the middle, it will easily cause many problems such as improper matching and affect the use.

First of all, the surface hardness of the floating seal ring is relatively high. During production, higher hardness can improve the wear resistance. In order to achieve higher hardness on the surface, an overall quench hardening treatment is required, but quench hardening will cause The amount of deformation caused by metal damage. In addition, there are various surface hardening treatments such as nitriding and laser quenching. Compared with the overall quenching, these methods can reduce the amount of deformation of the metal ring.

If the surface roughness of the floating seal ring is large, the degree of wear will increase and the wear resistance will be weakened. Under the condition of boundary lubrication, there can be enough space to store lubricating oil, which can reduce friction and extend the service life.
