What is a floating seal?

The floating face seal passes by a few distinct names, including duo cone seal, double cone seal, toric ring, mechanical face seal, or principle seal. The assembly of a floating seal is comprised of two coordinating parts. Every half has a seal ring and toric elastomeric ring, which goes about as an auxiliary fixing component. One face of the seal ring has been exactness ground/lapped to mate with the coordinating face on the contrary seal ring. The elastomeric ring powers the two seals parts together, therefore giving the seal.


A floating seal developed for harsh environments where the seal ring is very hard, wear resistant and made of corrosion resistant materials. The rubber component compresses the sliding surface of the seal ring and acts as a seal at the same time. Therefore, it is made of a material having a low temperature and a very high heat resistance and having a sufficiently long compressive strength to prolong its compression life.
