The area of the floating seal ring from the sealing surface to the inner diameter is typically designed in a stepped, internal conical (tilt) or inner spherical design. The advantage of an internal conical surface (inclined surface) or internal spherical design is that the lubricating oil enters the sealing surface through centrifugal force and capillary action, ensuring adequate lubrication and cooling of the sealing surface. For integrally rigid floating seals, in principle, the contact seal surface can be moved inward to the internal diameter of the floating seal.
